Hello, I’m Laurel!

Laurel Geddes Portrait

I am a multidisciplinary design leader with a proven track record of stewarding design solutions through the product design lifecycle, delivering strategic initiatives, and setting product vision.

I care deeply about empowering my teams to craft purposeful, cohesive end-to-end journeys that deliver value to both the business and the end customer. A hands-on manager, I seek to create an encouraging and engaging environment that enables my team to do work they’re proud of. I see challenging and ambiguous situations as opportunities to apply strategic thinking and add clarity. I believe it is important to clearly communicate the impact of design work, critically evaluate tradeoffs, and provide the rationale behind design decisions to generate alignment and enthusiasm.

Client list includes Starbucks, Amazon & AWS, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Jockey, Delta Denta, Fiserv, Safeco, and Toys “R” Us.

I earned a Bachelor’s in Fine Art degree from ArtCenter College of Design in Graphic Design, with an emphasis in Packaging Design. I also have Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Fine Art and Spanish from the University of California at Santa Barbara.

I lived and studied in Argentina and Spain as a young adult. These experiences gave me a global disposition and taught me the importance of communication and having a voice.

An adventurer, I love the thrill of trekking on horseback, scuba diving, and exploring the wilderness. I also practice yoga and thoroughly enjoy the camaraderie of rowing.

Laurel takes a great deal of pride in her design work, and in the analysis and original thinking that goes into developing design concepts and ideas. Under Laurel’s guidance, we produced some of the best deliverables I’ve seen in our 3-year history with the client. Additionally, Laurel had the idea to incorporate logic/rationale supporting design decisions, within the wireframes themselves. In case there were ever questions, the rationale was included in the wireframes. This was a great idea.

From the Powerpoint decks Laurel created to the quick design sprint, she was able to crank out quite a lot of material in a very short timeframe. Not only were those deliverables created fast, they were well done. We received high praise from the client and it is directly because of her contributions. When presenting, Laurel had polished thoughts and was able to articulate them clearly and effectively.
